Modern Roses With a little bit of searching, you can find modern roses that resist disease. Two of the 2006 All-America Rose Selections winners have earned raves for their excellent disease resistance. ‘Julia Child’, shown left, chosen by the chef herself, is an old-fashioned English-style rose with buttery gold flowers and a licorice scent, while the purple blooms of ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ have a fragrance reminiscent of citrus and rose.
